Kitchen Measuring Guide ... Obstacles
"Obstacles" can be anything that can affect your new fitted kitchen design, such as:
- Windows, Doors, & Hatches
- Window Cill height
- Door & Window opening (swing hitting adjacent items)
- Boilers (floor or wall mounted)
- Existing Services (electric sockets, cooker point and gas outlet)
- Central Heating Radiators
- Current ceiling or wall light positions
- Large skirting boards, Dado Rails, Ceiling Coving
- Utility Meter's (electric, gas)
- Water (inlet pipes and waste outlet direction)
- Main Water Stop Cock
The positions of likely obstacles need to be carefully noted on your new floor plan - failure to take notice of these items ... can be disastrous!
Being aware of these items is a first step, but you to be aware of their possible complications to your kitchen design.
Take particular notice of the "height from the floor" of any obstacle, replicating their position on an elevation drawing will clearly show any likely planning constraints, as below:
